Honoring the Life & Legacy of Randy Targett

March 31, 2026

It is with deep sadness that we share the unexpected passing of Randy Targett. Many knew Randy, alongside his wife Heather, as the dedicated co-managers of Rangeley Lakes Heritage Trust’s Cupsuptic Lake Park and Campground, a role they embraced with care and pride since October 2010. Together, they helped shape CLPC into the welcoming, family-centered campground that so many have come to cherish.

With a background in construction, Randy brought not only skill and vision to his work, but a steady, hands-on commitment to doing things the right way. His efforts—often behind the scenes—left a lasting mark on the landscape and the experience of all who visited.

“Never lose an opportunity of seeing anything beautiful.” -Ralph Waldo Emerson

A true son of Maine, Randy carried a deep sense of place that extended far beyond the land itself. He built meaningful connections within the community, offering kindness, humility, and quiet strength. He expressed gratitude freely and genuinely, and in doing so, earned the respect and appreciation of everyone he met.

Randy Targett, a man with long hair and a beard, wearing sunglasses and a gray jacket, sits in a camping chair at a table with blue mugs.

Randy’s presence will be deeply missed—on the shores of Cupsuptic Lake, within the RLHT community, and by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

From the staff and Board of Directors of Rangeley Lakes Heritage Trust, we extend our deepest sympathy to Heather, to their daughter Meg—also a valued member of the CLPC staff—and to their extended family and many friends.
