In Memoriam
Celebrating Life And Legacy
Since our founding in 1991, many people have contributed their energy and passion towards fulfilling our vision of conserving, restoring, and stewarding the land and waters of the Rangeley Lakes Region. Volunteers, employees, donors, friends and colleagues, and people young and old share a mutual love for the Rangeley community and its natural wonder. We remember and acknowledge those who have helped pave the way for our success.

Randall "Randy" H. Targett (1959 – 2026)
It is with profound sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Randy Targett. Many knew Randy and his wife Heather as the dedicated co-managers of Rangeley Lakes Heritage Trust’s Cupsuptic Lake Park and Campground, a role they embraced with care and pride since October 2010. Together, they helped shape CLPC into the welcoming, family-oriented campground that many have come to cherish. With a background in construction, Randy brought not only skill and vision but also a steady, hands-on dedication to doing things the right way. His efforts—often behind the scenes—left a lasting impact on the landscape and the experience of all who visited. A true son of Maine, Randy carried a deep sense of place that went beyond the land itself. He built meaningful connections within the community, offering kindness, humility, and quiet strength. He expressed gratitude freely and sincerely, earning the respect and appreciation of everyone he met. Randy’s presence will be deeply missed—on the shores of Cupsuptic Lake, in the RLHT community, and by all who had the privilege of knowing him. From the staff and Board of Directors of Rangeley Lakes Heritage Trust, we extend our deepest sympathies to Heather, their daughter Meg—also a valued member of the CLPC team—and their extended family and many friends.
"Never lose an opportunity of seeing anything beautiful."
-Ralph Waldo Emerson
“I support the Rangeley Lakes Heritage Trust because the work it does, and the work I expect it to do in the future, offers the best chance of preserving what is so very special about this place.”
Ben Bowditch
